I am excited by the potential of the open source software movement. Not because I think open source software is "better", only because I love technology and love seeing technology being advanced. Nothing crushes the advancement of technology more than a monopolistic business environment, and whether you love or hate them, Microsoft has a virtual monopoly in the software business.<br /><br />No single company at this time appears powerful enough to truly challenge them, but in the last few years the open source movement, led initially by Linux, has gained some traction. Firefox is really the first successful "consumer" product from the open source movement. <br /><br />For me personally, my interests are in making firefox the best product it can be. I am not a developer, my only actual coding experience was with visual basic (gasp!!) several years ago. I am interested in helping contribute in the qa/testing area, and more importantly I am intrigued by the possibiliy of bringing together people from around the world and merging those talents into a system that ultimately delivers a superior product.<br /><br />One of my strongest interests regarding Firefox are the extension ecosystem that has developed, and the new features we are getting every day from extension authors.
